Report: TYWA Contest 2020 Update.

Image
It's amazing! Young writers from far and near have visited the TYWA page to register their intentions of participating in our 2020 competition. We have received some submissions we can't wait to share with the world. About 200 visits to the TYWA page! What this implies is that many creative teenagers have found this contest as a playbook to register their signatures. With YOU, too, we can begin to change the narrative. The sole criterion for this year's entries is creativity. Tell a story with colourful imaginations. We want to see if your story is worth reading. Encourage your friends, children, students and other teenagers to participate in this. Just maybe this might lead to even much more. Join other teenagers who have submitted their writings. Write a story between 200 - 400 words, and stand a chance to earn all the rewarding benefits. Read up the guidelines HERE . We want more. Also, remember that submission closes on September 30, 2020. Do well to share the link of t

Education Begins At Home

Image
A nation without children will lose its wealthy heritage to foreigners. A nation without men and women of integrity will breed children as pests to the society -repugnant ones like mosquitoes, who cannot but offend and disgust others. A nation without competent teachers will sadly stand still; becoming even more stagnant than a mountain in a virgin forest, and no disaster will reshape its structure. A nation without education will go back in time to wallow in the past that everyone has left behind. It will reverse so shamefully like a full-grown, able-bodied man being nursed from his mother's bosom in public. The value of education can only be underestimated by an unlearned person who has been enveloped in colossal ignorance. When you see one whose conducts fall below certain expectations, you may like to review their educational history. However, a child's first teachers are his immediate family: parents, siblings, and so forth. The truth is that education is more like a seed.

TYWA Contest 2020: TheGoodFelo Young Writers Award Calls For Submission.

We already bet our PRIZES that you know a teenager who is creative when it comes to storytelling. Here is an opportunity for that child of yours, friend or student who is a talented writer, to win our 2020 Award, free Publishing & Publicity, a Cash Prize and more. With this, we want to bring the kinds of children literature that are actually written by talented young adults to the national, continental, and global scene. We want to portray literacy as it is in Africa to the world. We want to correct the wrong impression anyone might have about the African child as we facilitate the involvement of African young writers in global literature. GUIDELINES FOR TYWA 2020 1. Write your best story yet! Ensure the word count does not exceed 400 words. (Word counts within 200-400 are advised) 2. You may write on any theme of your choice; however, it must be in the form of prose. We shall entertain only 1 story per person. 3. Participants must be within the age range of 13-19 (teenagers). 4. DREAMS 006: Working Out Your Dreams In Real Life.

I agree with you. Most of the time, you and I have legitimate reasons to postpone our action plan. We usually know what to do, but we don't know when to stand strong and say, "I will do it now, come what may. Let the skies fall." We may have to save up, sacrifice our time and ego, walk up to people, or even read. However, the truth is, we often have "reasonable reason" to not act now. I believe I should mention again that the universe and all its activities will not pause just to allow you make a rational and profitable decision. In most cases, it is in the midst of the flying time, daily distractions, and present occupations that we get to make many of our life changing decisions. It is truly fearful to think that the SHIFT our life desires to experience is at the MERCY of the critical decisions we are yet to make. A decision to do what you believe is hard, stressful, overly sacrificial or even stupid. I was talking to a young man one day when I made

DREAMS 005: The Transition From Dream To True Success.

Success is Deliberate. There's no argument about this. Failure may not be deliberate, but a person never fails without their own consent. I believe it is important for us to keep hearing these facts. Hopefully, they would push us to do more each day and eventually build the life we have always dreamed of. I personally don't believe that any living person has failed, because to me, if you're alive right now, you can still try again and this time even better than before. Hence, If you can try "it" again, then you have not yet failed at it. You may only have made a mistake or failed at that attempt, but never really at what you want to achieve. Only a person who died with his dreams unborn has failed at accomplishing their dream. I'm glad to break the good news to you: if you're not dead, your dreams are not dead yet! First, you must agree that your dream is yours to chase. Dreams will eternally be dreams, and they won't change just because of you

DREAMS 004: The Easiest Way To Make Progress At Anything In Life.

Today, I'm just going to be talking about making your dreams happen. How did I make this blog happen? How did I get a job at the radio station? How can I apply the same principles into any other dream I have? Let's talk about making our dreams happen in real life. To start with, kill procrastination with an action. To bring your dreams to pass, you need these basic ingredients: a firm decision, a complementary action, and a tough heart. So, it all starts with a decision. This is the second blog I am creating, the first was in 2013. No matter how big your dream is, admit it to yourself that there are little things you have the capacity to do that will keep you in a progressive journey towards your desired end. Once you admit this, you allow your mind to better recognize the opportunities you have access to. I had mentioned that I had challenges with publishing even though I was a passionate writer. I lost motivation whenever I thought that my passion was not lucrative en

DREAMS 4: Why You Have To Run As Fast As You Can In Life.

"Relay-race" is to me, one of the most interesting sporting games. One moment, you have the baton, another moment, you're done having it -it's no longer yours to hold on to. Relay race is very similar to our human lives in the way the latter evolves from one generation of people to another. In relay, what you do when you have the baton matters a lot, since that is your own contribution to the whole game. The only time you have the power to actually influence the game is when you still have the baton. No one holds on to the baton for the whole time. We as dreamers really need to awaken from our slumber, lest, we'll never make it in reality. I always say this: We all are dreamers; some sleep for a lifetime; some eventually wake up and work on their dreams . Just like in a relay race, you already have the baton which in this case is your life and dreams. Don't just sit or sleep with the baton right there on the field of life. Wake up, get up and run as f

DREAMS 003: The Strength & Powerlessness Of Dreams.

Image
Imagine for instance that your whole life we're a candle that will burn for a hundred years. Whether or not you use this light to achieve anything, it keeps burning without the slightest hesitation, without an apology. It never waits for any person to do what is right or best for them. It just burns. So, a man can yet suffer in darkness when there's a torch in his hands. It is your choice to use this light that renders the light useful or useless for you. Otherwise, a torch is merely a torch and nothing more. In the same sense, dreams are in themselves entirely abstract and completely boneless to move anything in reality. This is where their powerlessness lies. Dreams are valid but can be vain, too. Our actions are the only means of giving strength and adding credibility to our dreams. I was very young when I started dreaming of becoming an author and an ENCOURAGER. After many years of procrastination, I challenged myself to commit to writing my first book. After a

Responding Rightly To Your Dream.

In July 2019, I had this great story-line for one of the short stories in my recent work. The excitement that so engulfed me was like a heavy rain-pour. This was because I thought I had an incredibly awesome story in mind. However, it is disappointing that as intense as the enthusiasm was, this is 2020, and I have still not written down the story. This is not to say that dreams or ideas are not valid. Instead, it emphasizes that dreams can be as useless and fruitless as a mere thought that comes once and forever goes away with the wind...without any remembrance at all. Someone else might have been wishing to be an artist, but all they do is enjoy the jolly feeling that comes with their ideas. If you have not realized yet, I bring it to your consciousness that "the initial feeling of excitement that comes with having a dream can be utterly meaningless if it doesn't lead the dreamer to take any complementary action". As a result of this, I constantly remind myse
