TheGoodFelo is a literary initiative that is founded on a mission to establish a platform that would connect readers to quality, well-written, inspirational and literary contents.

Our TYWA program is a subdivision that came to light in order to facilitate and encourage the involvement of young adults in the area of creative writing. Our aim is clearly stated in our motto: Rewarding creativity with a platform for positive influence. The idea was birthed in 2018 but did not come alive until 2020.

With this, we want to bring the kinds of children literature that are actually written by talented young adults to the national, continental, and global scene. We want to portray literacy as it is in Africa to the world. We want to correct the wrong impression anyone might have about the African child. And, undoubtedly, we hope to facilitate the involvement of African young writers in global literature.

Although, we agree that a lot of grounds have not been covered as regards the education of the average African child; nonetheless, we believe that by doing what we do, we could balance the story, making the narrative more inclusive, better and truer.

We start with Nigeria!

This is, therefore, an open call to all young literary creatives to write a "read-worthy" literature piece that would show the world the innate potential of the Nigerian child. Also, submitting a "read-worthy" short-story in our 2020 contest is a great start that will add an impressive start to your badge as a writer.


GUIDELINES FOR TYWA 2020

1. Write your best story yet! Ensure the word count does not exceed 400 words. (Word counts within 200-400 are advised)
2. You may write on any theme of your choice; however, it must be in the form of prose. We shall entertain only 1 story per person for this contest.
3. Participants must be within the age range of 13-19 (teenagers).
4. Send your error-free submission in MS Word format to thegoodfelo@gmail.com on or before September 30, 2021. We shall guide you from there.
5. Include your name, age, class, address, and contact number & email at the end of your story. We will keep in touch. (Unless communicated differently, the winners would be announced on December 6, '21)

AWARDS 

1. All interesting and well-written, "read-worthy" stories would be compiled and published in our 2021 Young Adult Fiction Anthology titled: The Sound Of Our Own Voices.
2. The top 5 out of the fantastic stories to be published would be awarded in TheGoodFelo Young Writers Award.
3. In addition to publishing, all well-written stories would be featured on the site to participate in our Read-Worthy challenge for a cash prize.
4. The overall 1st position would in addition to the above receive a Cash Prize and an Exclusive Interview to be published on TheGoodFelo Online Platform and Affiliated sites.

Gratitude, Strength and Beauty: My Journey to Recovery. Human strength and beauty lies within, and are all enforced by gratitude and the people around. It’s a beautiful lesson I learnt from eight chemotherapy sessions and two surgeries over the course of one year. The school year had just ended and I was finally home with my parents after three months of intense academic activity in boarding school. As I lay on the sofa, loss in thought anticipating the beautiful holiday, my mum slowly reached out to me calling my attention to a small mass she observed protruding on my right abdominal region. Although, I had observed the mass before I never seemed to be bothered, “I feel no pain there”, I told my mum.
