TYWA 2020: Exclusive Interview With Timi And Grace.

"Rewarding CREATIVITY with a PLATFORM for Positive Influence" has been a core drive for all TGF projects. When TYWA was conceived, the vision was to create a sustainable platform that would encourage the involvement of African young writers in global literature. This leverage is therefore built to help talented writers validate their creative abilities as early as possible. It is our goal to initiate an era where more young writers can carve out a visible space for themselves, where the African voice can be heard clearly in the literary sphere.

Query: Tell us a little on how you came about your stories.

Timileyin Akinmoyeje:

"All Through the Mirror is part fiction and part reality. Some of the things in the story are part of my experiences. What I did was spice it up with a little fiction."

Grace Alioke:

"I wrote 'The day fire rampaged' after the recent fire outbreak in the North due to an attack. I believe feeling the loss in the story would help in settling ethnic hatred and fights."

Query: Do you think this victory has positively influenced you? How has it affected you as a person?

Timileyin Akinmoyeje:

"Yes it has. This is my first win in creative contests. It is a major confidence boost that I can achieve more, if I work more."

Grace Alioke:

"This victory has influenced me positively. It is serving as a push to write and submit more. It has given me the courage to go for more contests."

Query: Aside writing, what are you interested in?

Timileyin Akinmoyeje:

"History, Politics, and Philosophy."

Grace Alioke:

"Teaching, Human Advocacy, and Decoration."

Query: What is/are your future ambition(s)?

Timileyin Akinmoyeje:

"My ambition as related to being a creative is to write pieces that will influence lives on a global scale."

Grace Alioke:

"I want to write what the world will read, and due to my words, turn a new leaf. I want to fight for justice and love with my written and spoken words. I have always wanted to be a writer, speaker, and debater. My sincere gratitude for organizing this competition. It has given me prestige."

Query: How does this make you feel?

Timileyin Akinmoyeje:

"I feel elated. It's definitely not easy standing out among creatives. The quality of the short stories I saw are top tier. It's a confidence boost for me. I have put in for different contests previously and I still aim to do more. Winning this is a pointer to the fact that I can do great things if I don't give up."

Grace Alioke:

"I am exited! This is a progress in my writing journey and an encouragement. It's telling me, 'There you go, girl! You can do more!' It will make me write more, and has given me the boldness to go for more contests."
