SPONTANEOUS POST: Walking Towards The Light You Can See.
We all have dreams. Sometimes, I think that dreams are some
of the cheapest things one can ever have in life. The point is that, really,
there are certain things you hope to see in your future life. There’s something
you want to have; someone you wish to be and so on. It’s not a crime to dream,
but it’s an awful waste of one’s time to keep on dreaming without a success
plan. In fact, it’s a waste of one’s lifetime to only dream all the time.
I wouldn’t say that if you dream it, you can get it, and I am
not disputing this saying either. What then is the message of this post you’re
reading? If you do just one thing every day in line with your dreams, your
progress over time will astound you. Walk towards the light you see even by
doing seemingly little things. Set realistic weekly goals as well as midyear
goals with dates attached to them.
For instance, if you want to be a thriving business person
in the next five years, follow the principle of walking towards the light. You could
take a free or paid course, do an internship, assist a growing business owner,
read books and/or articles, start your own business, consult experienced people
for advice, get a good mentor, start drawing out a business plan for your next
business, do relevant research and so on.
Now, you may not be able to do one or two of these due to
some constraints, still there is something you can do on a weekly basis, and
there are goals that you can work towards in a matter of months. You may not
have everything needed at ones, but with passion, you can move on. I say "weekly" and "midyear" because you just have to have a schedule however it would be. Daily
tasks may be discouraging for some people, hence the monthly or midyearly.
My experience… I wanted to be a prominent personality in the
literature world. It would only cost me time to write works for myself. I kept
writing. I bought, borrowed and read the works of successful writers I admired, then
adopted certain styles and techniques from them overtime. I started a practice-blog at a point in time, I put in for a few competitions, and I tried to hold on
steadfastly to the belief that I was “good and growing” no matter the stage I
was and so forth. All these did not come easily… not as easy as it sounds. Also,
I am not there yet, but I am surely not where I used to be.
You would need faith, hope, courage, endurance and
persistence.
